The Hudson River Valley is in eastern NY state and is home to many beautiful and historic areas.

Balanced Rock is located in North Salem,NY. It is a very large rock situated on top of smaller rocks. Some believe the rock landed there as a coincidence. Others believe it is a Celtic monument to the dead. Balanced Rock is considered to be a "Sacred Site".
Most likely this was an erratic or a massive piece of granite dropped rather randomly during the advance and retreat of the glaciers during the several ice ages between 2 million and 10,000 years ago. I have visited the sacred Dolmen sites in Brittany, Ireland and England and it is unlikely that the ancient Celts ever made it to North America. The proportions are wrong as well to what is more typically Celtic.
