Week 2 Photos

Week 2 Photos

Above photo was taken from the North Haven town green which is where I live.  On the green is a Cannon and near it is a stack of Cannon balls which is in this photo. I took several photos of this from different angles and trying to time it best because the sun kept going in and out of the clouds.

In this photo above, shows a bicycle rack taken in front of the Yale New Haven Health plan. Here I'm showing a consistent shape with reflection from the sun on the walkway.

Above here is another but different type of bicycle rack mounted to a concrete wall taken in front what is known as the previous location to the Yale New Haven Health plan. After reviewing the photo closer, I noticed that there was a bicycle lock left on one of the racks. Does anyone see it?

This photo is the parking garage at the Yale New Haven Health plan which I thought has a unique consistent shape. When I took this photo it came out a little angled so I tried the photo shop tool to skew it in alignment. It took me some time to figure it out but hopefully I did it correctly.

This photo was taken in Branford at the town Library. I tried to capture the pillars and shadows from the sun. I tried to use the photo shop on this one to straighten out the pillars but I don't like the way it came out. I took several attempts to get it right but for some reason the first pillar on the left does not want to work.

This is a walk way along Hillhouse Avenue New Haven heading toward Prospect street. I thought it was interesting on how consistently the side walk went all the way down. Almost looks like a tunnel along the way.

This is at the New Haven court house. I thought the railings were interesting going up. It has a pretty unique design.

As I was walking around New Haven, I thought this light pole has a fancy design. Again I had to use the photo shop to try and bring the picture in more.

I feel that the first two at the top were probably my best photo shots taken.

  1. Excellent Dan... Photos 2 through 7 are the strongest by far.... You are thinking visually. You are controlling in your minds eye what needs to be in the shot and eliminated everything that was superfluous. You understand the design principles of unity and repetition and you were paying close attention to the light and to shadows as a design element.

See how the top and bottom shots are not as strong according to those criteria?

    Well done!
