Final project- Aura Martinez

For the final project I tried to incorporate my favorite things that I learned throughout the semester. Being on vacation gave me many new things and surroundings to be inspired by.

The next few shots were of a grand piano, both the keys as well as the strings inside.

This shot was taken of the family cat named cookie. Her intense look and interesting fur made for a great animal portrait.
This shot was taken of an orchid in the back yard. I increased the saturation to really bring out the colors as well as sharpened the center of the flower to create a focal point.
This shot is of a grand father clock. I liked how detailed it was and how you could see the reflection in the glass.

These next two shots were taken of trees along the Loxahatchee River in Florida. I liked how intricate they were and how strong the reflections were as well.

This last shot was taken of a circuit board. I adjusted the the levels and sharpness.

Week 8 various photos

The following are additional various photos related from the past 8 weeks .

This is a portrait photo of my son by the window before going to work. I think he is thinking of the merit raise he just received.

This is a portrait photo of our dog "Holly" who just happen to sit still long enough for me to take this photo. I think she was watching television from the couch.

This was taken at lighthouse area before all the snow had hit us.

Again, this was taken before all the snow down at Branford point beach.

This was on the beach at Branford point. Some seaweed and shells washed up on shore.

Some Macro shots taken of my daughters figurine in a bottle.

Another Macro shot with my sons hot wheel NASCAR figure.

Statue taken outside the courthouse in front of the New Haven Green. I didn't like the way the lighting came out. I think it was a little to dark. So in the next photo will show it edited.

This is the edited version where I lightened it up. I tried to follow the same technique as described from the editing tutorial given a few weeks ago.

This is a photo of our church in North Haven in front of the town Green. This was also taken prior to all the snow. This was taken from week two when I was looking for shapes.

week 7

I am really fascinated with macro photography, I feel like I can capture things I would otherwise overlook. There is a whole world hidden from me that the stillness in macro shots brings out. I had a house full of sick kids this week and instead of setting shots up I  carried my camera around all day and when something caught my eye I took a quick shot. I really hope we get some melting this week so I can do some more outside.

Extra Shots

Imperial Sand Dunes,Sonoran Desert- Southern California

Zion National Park- Utah

Center of the World

Felicity, California is an unincorporated community in Southeastern California. It is not very far from Arizona. Through a unique set of circumstances, my brother and I took a visit to this place. This community holds a legal designation as "Center of the World." What does that mean? After a few explanations and some research, we are still not quite sure. Nonetheless, it is a very interesting place. It contains a courtyard with several rosetta stones detailing world history. There is a church on top of a hill and a pyramid which is said to be the "Center of the World."
Symbols of the Alpha and the Omega with a Yin Yang / Mission statement of the project.

Statue of God's arm from Michelangelo's painting within the Sistine Chapel. It is part of a sun dial.
